Russell L. Case

Russell L. Case of Shawnee, Kansas passed away on November 29, 2020.

He was born July 12, 1929 in rural Cooper County, Blackwater, Missouri to Leslie S. and Carrie E. (Perkins) Case. Surviving are his wife, Lois; two daughters, Jennifer (Case) Hicks and Donna (Case) Bowman; a sister, Mary Green; and 4 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one brother, L. Wilbur Case; and four sisters, Lillian "Peggy" Myers, Anne Cox, Helen Wilson, and Ruby French.

Russell was the seventh child of a Missouri farmer during the depression era. His parents encouraged his education and Russ graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri in 1947.  He moved to Kansas City the following summer and in September 1948 enlisted into the Army and was selected for the Army Security Agency (ASA) branch. In 1956 he met his lovely wife, Lois, while stationed at Fort Devens, MA. The couple married in Lowell, MA in 1957.

It was his honor to serve in the United States Military which afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the world. During his military career Russell also furthered his education. Russ retired from the United States Army in 1969 as W4 Chief Warrant Officer. The family eventually settled in Shawnee, Kansas to be close to loved ones. Russell continued his education while working and graduated with a degree from Columbia College in 1979. He worked for Wells Fargo/Baker Industries, and Bayer.  He retired from Bayer in 1987.

Russ and Lois enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe during retirement. One of their favorite destinations was New Smyrna Beach, Florida.  The couple were members of the Shawnee Presbyterian Church and were volunteers with Meals on Wheels for several decades. Russ was a loving, dedicated husband and father who will be missed.

The funeral service for close friends and family will be held on December 12, 2020 at 12 p.m., at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas.

Due to the current COIVD-19 restrictions we are limited to 45 people in the chapel at one time. Masks and social distancing will be required.
