Russell Dean Miller passed peacefully, Sept. 13 at the Heritage of Overland Park. He was born May 23, 1929 in Pollock, Missouri to Leo Preston Miller and Thelma Ann Davis, both of Sullivan County, Missouri. They were married April 23, 1927. They had two children, Russell Dean and Shirley Jean Miller (Rulon). The family moved to Green City, Missouri and then to Laclede, Missouri.
Russell worked for GMAC in Kansas City, Missouri as a bookkeeper from 1948 to 1951. He was a PX manager and corporal for Army 51 from Feb. 26, 1951 to June 19, 1953. He returned and worked at GMAC in Topeka, Kansas from Jan. 1955 to Sept. 1959. He was promoted to Kansas City as bookkeeper and an assistant accounting manager. It is here he increased his income and made better use of his education. He later went on to work for the USDA as an accountant and auditor. He retired in 2001 at the age of 72. He lived in Shawnee for 55 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee.
Russell married the love of his life, Marilyn Ruth Woolf, on June 19, 1960. They had two children together, Nancy Ruth Sidwell (Scott) and Robert Dean Miller (deceased).
Russell leaves a daughter, Nancy (Scott) Sidwell of Olathe, a sister, Shirley Rulon of Brookfield, Missouri, 3 grandchildren and their spouses, 7 great-grandchildren, a nephew, and many nieces.
Dad always said "thank you". Dad, your little girl says "thank you" for being the best dad and the rock in my life.
