Russell Edward Rowe, 82, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at the St. Luke's Hospital, Overland Park, Kansas.

Mr. Rowe was born October 11, 1931, in Sterling, Nebraska, to Herbert D. and Retura M. Rowe. Russell served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Verdun, France, and worked in the medical records department. He graduated from Molar Barber College in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a barber for three years on the Plaza. Russell was a locomotive engineer for 33 years for the Kansas City Terminal Railway and retired from the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Sterling, Nebraska.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Mildred (Voelk) Rowe; son, Steven R. Rowe, Stilwell, Kansas; three daughters, Patricia R. Fridley, Overland Park, Kansas, Susan J. Rowan, Lenexa, Kansas, and Nancy Elizabeth J. Rowe, Shawnee, Kansas; sister, Bonnie Puckett, Bluefield, West Virginia; nine grandchildren, Angela Balderston, Kristin Stoebner, Leanna J. Thompson, Nathan T. Smith, Dacia Marie Peters, Natalie C. Rowan, Travis C. Copple, Jacob R. Copple, Zechariah C. Rowe-Hayden; and five great grandchildren, Adison Balderston, Lilly Balderston, Brandon Stoebner, Wyatt Stoebner and Bradley A. Peters.

Funeral Service and Visitation

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar, Overland Park, Kansas; burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Friends may call from 1-2 pm, Wednesday at the church.
