Ruth Wetherill Joy passed away June 13, 2014 at Bickford Place, Mission, KS. She was born January 19, 1917 to Addison and Sadie Wetherill in Holden, Missouri.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Curtis Joy and her son Robert Curtis Joy, her parents and brothers Fred and Ira Wetherill and nephew Ike Wetherill. She is survived by daughter Darlene Vaughn (Ron), daughter-in-law Barbara Joy, grandchildren Julie McNeal (Myrle), Jennifer Merrill (Clancy), Ronald Vaughn, Jr., Robert Curtis Joy, II; Kristy Joy Rehorn, twelve great grandchildren and two nephews.
She loved music, playing the piano, the organ for church, and singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was a life time member of the Eastern Star, Beatrice Chapter #450. She was a member of the Shawnee Presbyterian Church. During World War II Ruth worked assembling B-25 bombers at Fairfax and later as a secretary for Pratt & Whitney. The family would like to thank the staff at Bickford and wonderful caregivers of Crossroads Hospice for their dedication.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. with burial in Shawnee Cemetery.
