Sally Jean (Wood) Kohlhase, 76, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on August 29, 2010, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Sally was born in Wellington, Kansas, on February 24, 1934. Sally was raised in Kiowa, Kansas, by Harry Allen and Lena Wood. She is the widow of Bruce John Kohlhase.
Survivors include her two sons, Mark Kohlhase and his wife Becky of Prairie Village, Kansas and Douglas Kohlhase and his wife Jennifer of Overland Park; two sisters, Sue Knobbe of Overland Park, Kansas and Judy Kale of Wichita, Kansas; step-children Kate Royston of Castle Rock, Colorado and David Kohlhase of Wes Laco, Texas; and six grandchildren whom she treasured: Hal, Jane, Isaac, Gus, Scott and Colin. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, sister Joanne, brother-in-law Larry and her parents.
Sally lived a full and vibrant life. Her adventures included working at Yellowstone National Park and for the FBI. Most important were the roles of wife, mother, sister, Nana and friend.
Special thanks for the support of Grace Hospice, Homestead and Church of the Resurrection for the care of Sally and family in both mind and spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Memorial Service
A celebration of Sally's life and a memorial will be on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at The Church of the Resurrection.
