Shane St. Clair

Michael (Shane) St. Clair, 48, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away December 18, 2014.

Shane St. Clair was born March 16, 1968, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Sandra and Richard St. Clair of Montrose, Iowa. St. Clair earned his registered nurse degree in 1991 from the University of Iowa College of Nursing in Iowa City.

While a nursing student, Shane met a fellow nursing student, Katherine Schuver, of Granville, Iowa. They married on Sepember. 5, 1992, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville.

Soon after earning their degrees, the couple moved to the Kansas City area. They welcomed their son Zachary in 1997 and their daughter Madelyn in 2000. Both of the children attend Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.

He worked for many years as a CRNA at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Later he was self-employed as a nurse anesthetist at the Minimally Invasive Surgical Hospital.

Shane was preceded in death by his wife who lost her battle with breast cancer on August 19 this year.

Survivors include the two children; his parents; a sister Erin (Sean) Roberts and their children Will, Sam and Kate of California; mother-in-law Geraldine (Gerry) Schuver of Remsen, Iowa; and numerous brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Shane was preceded in death by his grand-parents A. Evalyn Willey, Ruby G. St. Clair and Thomas E. St. Clair.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th Street, Shawnee, Kansas. The funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jim Ludwikowski officiating. Inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Lunch will follow at Good Shepherd.

Memorial Contributions

Memorials may be made to the Kathy St. Clair Inspirational Fund, a foundation at St. Luke's Hospital set up by her colleagues in her honor to assist other nurses in continuing education.
