Sheila Cuthbert Flottmann

d. June 4, 2011

Surrounded by her loving family, Sheila Cuthbert Flottmann, 86, of Mission, Kansas, formerly of Gerald, Missouri, entered eternal life with her heavenly father on June 4, 2011, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mrs. Flottmann was preceded in death by her husband Leo H. Flottmann; her sisters Joan Price, Mildred Helmore, and her brother, Tom Cuthbert. Surviving family members include her children, one sister; Eva Burford, England, one sister-in law; Amy Flottmann, Washington, Missouri, five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in the US and England.

Sheila was a comptometer operator and British war bride who came to the U.S.A after World War II, and resided in Gerald, Missouri, with her husband Leo. Their union was blessed with three children: Dr. Gerald Flottmann Montgomery, Texas, Carol Nelson, Mission, Kansas, and Deniece (Rev. Craig) Branson of Palmetto Bay, Florida.

Sheila was affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren; Laura (Dr. Curtis) Grote, Dr. Jay (Candace) Flottmann, Sara (Jud) Cummins, Drs. Shane (Celina) Nelson, and Rachelle (Chad) O'Connor; great grandchildren; Katrina, Ryan, Alexandra and David Grote; Devon Bailey, Camryn, Ashlyn and Taryn Flottmann; Cole, Peyton and Drew O'Connor; Chloe and Cailyn Cummins.

Nana Sheila was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was adored by her family and touched each life. Nana had a unique way of relating to each person in her circle of family and friends. Nana was loved by all and will be missed. She was an active member of the local Boeuff Presbyterian Church. Sheila sang in the church choir and played in the kitchen band to encourage those who needed company in nursing homes. She enjoyed tennis, board games, loved to bake and find a bargain. Her table was always set for any occasion. Laughter, caring, concern and sharing were abundant in the Flottmann home.

Thank you to all the staff at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and all those who contributed to Sheila's care.
