Shelly Kay Wahle passed away peacefully on June 6, 2015 at KU Medical Center after a brief illness.
Shelly is survived by the her daughter Nikki (Wahle) Barrett,(Matt) Burlington, Kansas, her brother, Mark (Sam)Wahle, Olathe, Kansas, Mother and Dad, Linda and Warren Okeson, Olathe, Ks., three grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brendan, and Braysen Barrett, and a longtime and dear friend, William Hull, Overland Park, Ks. She was preceded in death by her birth father, John Courtney Wahle.
Shelly grew up in Junction City, Kansas and attended high school at JCHS, graduating in 1979. She remained close with many of her classmates through adulthood.
After graduation she moved to San Francisco where her daughter (the love of her life) Laramie Nicole (Nikki) was born. After spending a few years in California, Shelly and Nikki moved back to Kansas where she lived until her passing. Shelly had many jobs and made many friends with her contagious laugh and positive spirit.
Shelly's world revolved around her daughter and her activities, especially soccer. She followed Nikki's soccer career all over the country. Shelly also shared a special bond with her only sibling, her brother. Shelly and Sam hung out every Sunday either watching sports, going to IHOP, Barnes & Noble or watching NASCAR. They also shared a unique love for animals.
A memorial service will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home,10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Ks. on Wednesday, June 10 at 1:00 pm. At her request she has been cremated.
Immediately following the service there will be light refreshments in the reception center in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Shelly's name at the Citizen's State Bank, 428 Neosho, Burlington, Ks. 66839
