Sherma Faye Johnston

Sherma Faye (Young) Johnston, 79, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at Trinity Nursing and Rehab in Merriam.

Sherma was born April 4, 1931 to the late F.R. and Mary (Owens) Young in Sepulpa, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school Sherma attended Oklahoma City University, graduating from Unversity of Missouri Kansas City with a Bachelor's degree in English.

Sherma was employed by the Social Security Administration and the Department of Defense as a Management Analyst retiring in 1991. Sherma was a member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Leavenworth and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She loved to travel and never met a stranger. She will be missed by family and friends alike.

Sherma is survived by her son Douglas Wade (John) Johnston, Leavenworth, Kansas; and her brother Foster Paul Young, Lenexa, Kansas.

Graveside Services

Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Pleasantview Cemetery in Shawnee.
