Shirley Yvonne Rollf Joy

d. September 4, 2017

Shirley Yvonne Rollf Joy, 76, of Shawnee Kansas, passed away peacefully on Monday September 4th, 2017. Shirley is proceeded in death by her father Frank Rollf and beloved Sheltie- Barney, and is survived by daughter Lesli Bragg( Lee’s Summit, Missouri), grandchildren Ian (North Kansas City, Missouri) and Madison Bragg ( Blue Springs, Missouri) , her mother Anna and bother Roger Rollf ( Shawnee, Kansas) sister Charlotte Kelly-Treadway ( St. George, Utah) . She’s also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Shirley was born in a log cabin on a mountain top in Arkansas in 1941. She grew up in Shawnee Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1959. She entered the workforce and found employment in the accounting field, then married Harold Joy in 1961. After raising her daughter, she continued her education and received her associates degree from Longview College in1984. She was a valuable and well-loved employee and friend at DCI, where she retired and was employed for over 20 years.  After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Barney. She lived at home, cherishing her time with her mom and brother. With the time not spent at home, she was spreading her joyous optimism with many nurses and doctors along the way. Though they hated to see her go, they loved to watch her leave in hopes that she would get better. While that was not her dealt hand, she continued to fight until the very end. A quote by Shakespeare fits her best “And Though she be but little, she is fierce”.The family would like to thank the KU oncology and hematology departments for all of their care and support. And also a large thank you to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care as they accompanied Shirley during her last days.

We will always love you to the moon and back.
