SHIRLEY ANNE LORENZI  12-24-1927 to 10-25-2018

Shirley Anne was born on December 24th, 1927 in St. Paul, MN to Donald H. Whitmore and Susan (Wadsworth) Whitmore.  The youngest of 4 children (Donald Jr., John and Joan), Shirley graduated from Central High School and the College of St. Catherine both in St. Paul.  She graduated with a major in English and a minor in Social Work.

She met Richard William Lorenzi and began her married life in Denver, Colorado for the first 10 years.  A job relocation resulted in a move to Kansas, first settling in Roeland Park and then shortly moving to Shawnee, Kansas where she lived the rest of her days.

Shirley was an avid reader preferring murder mysteries.  Her greatest passion was writing poetry and short stories heavily influenced by cowboy, Old West and rural themes.  Shirley was also very active knitting and crocheting throughout her life.  Shirley was a devout Catholic and an active member in many organizations of the St. Joseph's parish of Shawnee.  She used her knitting hobby as a long-time member of the St. Agnes Sewing Circle which made various donated clothing pieces for the Christmas Bureau and Catholic Charities of which she was very proud. Shirley was also an associate member of the Legion of Mary.

Shirley is survived by her 4 beloved children and their spouses; Stephen (Deborah) of Kansas City, MO., Mark (Lucia) of Maui, Hawaii, Matthew (Kelly) of Philadelphia, PA. and her daughter Anastasia "Stash" Lorenzi of Overland Park, KS.  She is also survived by her 4 dear grandchildren (Allison, Isabella, Emma and Graham).

Her favorite quote was from St. Augustine "Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee."

May you rest in peace, mom.

Scheduled for a later date.
