Shirley Mae Pemberton, 84, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Sweet Life of Shawnee.

Shirley was born February 23, 1930 to the late Henry Carl and Mamie Marie Swanson in Duluth, Minnesota. She graduated from Westport High School in 1946. After graduation, Shirley enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. She was very proud of her training and service for her country. On September 3, 1949 Shirley married the love of her life, Jim. Shirley was dedicated to her husband, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ptacek and husband Darell; a son, Mark Pemberton and wife Cathy; three grandsons, Russell Ptacek and wife Erin; Travis Ptacek and wife Stephanie; Cody Ptacek and wife Kerri; 6 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Services

A Celebration of Shirley's life will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 24 at the Amos family Funeral Home. Stories and memories of Shirley’s life will be shared at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
