Simone Bounyadeth, 82, Lenexa, KS passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at Research Medical Center.

Simone was born on December 8, 1937 in Meongkhai, Laos and passed away on November 16, 2020.

Simone was preceded in death by his father Chanma Bounyadeth and mother Khamma Bounyadeth, three brothers and four sisters, and two sons, Lon and Noy Bounyadeth. Survivors include his wife, Phouthong (Meaungkhot) Bounyadeth; children, Phonethip and Maly Bounyadeth, Phonethep and Dalaphon Xayasene, Sonephet Bounyadeth, Sayphin and Stephen Hansen, Vongphet Bounyadeth, Anousack Bounyadeth, and Amanda Bounyadeth and Yo Sirithasack. Surviving grandchildren, Savannah Rattanavong, Kitana Rattanavong, Max Bounyadeth, Medi Bounyadeth, Malina Para, Nadia Para, and Melody Para.

Simone graduated high school in Laos and joined the Laos Army 1957.  In 1958 he began training for the Laos Army Special Forces to become a leader for Soldiers.  Simone worked his way through many promotions in the Laos Army and was married to Phouthong (Meaungkhot) Bounyadeth in 1961.  Simone and Phouthong were blessed and raised nine beautiful children.  In 1964 Simone become an instructor to teach Laos Army Soldiers on technical skills to serve in the Laos Army Special Forces.  In 1966 Simone attended training in Okinawa.  In 1968 Simone trained at San Antonio, TX for English speaking classes, followed by training with the US Special Forces and Airborne units at Fort Benning, GA, Fort Bragg, NC, and Fort Knox, KY.  Simone returned to Laos in 1969 and served in a Laos Brigade and with the US Embassy in Laos.  In 1971 Simone was trained and worked directly with US Air Force pilots to fight the communist during the Vietnam War.  At the end of his military career in the Laos Army, Simone pursued a career in agriculture.  In 1979 Simone was able to secure a life in the United States for he and his family.  Simone clearly set the example in his military career, which led to three of his children choosing to serve their country in the US Army and US Marine Corps.  Simone often enjoyed recounting his time spent in the Laos Army.  He was rightfully very proud of his accomplishments that he achieved at such a young age.  Simone truly enjoyed spending time with his family and he will forever live in their hearts and minds.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Monday, November 23, 2020 at Amos Family Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 there is a limit of 45 people in the chapel at once. Masks and social distancing are required. Family is encouraging people to watch the live stream service HERE.
