Sonia M. Arellano

Sonia Maria Arellano, 47, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Sonia was born August 3, 1966, in Kansas City, Kansas, to John M. and Maria C. Arellano. She was a 1985 graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School. Sonia was a devoted mother, always happy and a friend to everyone she met.

Sonia was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Cordero Arellano in 1995. Survivors include her daughter, Maria "Nanie" Arellano; father, John M. Arellano; sister, Maria Antonette Arellano; brother, Nicholas M. Arellano all of Shawnee, Kansas; two aunts, Juanita Diaz, Kansas City, Missouri, and Marina Cordero, Kansas City, Kansas. Sonia was especially fond of her niece, Lily "Lilybug" Arellano. Sonia also leaves behind her six cats, Spacey, Gracie, Molly, Lewis, Suri and Tommy. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a Rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013, at St. Agnes Catholic Church; burial in Mt.CalvaryCemetery.
