Spencer “Corky” Shields, age 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Corky was a truck driver for CKC, Manley and CF truck lines. He retired in 1994 after 32 years. Corky was not the type of person to sit around the house. He could be spotted around Shawnee at his favorite locations: Jake's; The American Legion and Westlake Hardware where he had a host of loyal customers for almost 20 years. Every fall for 19 years he traveled to Washington State to spend time with family during harvest season.
Corky was an active member of the Assembly of God Church in OP, KS and enjoyed hosting a monthly bible study in his home.
He leaves behind his wife Barbara of 41 years; two sons Spencer, II and Julien; four daughters: Tanya; Kimberly; Kathy and Karla; brother, William Shields; 8 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
