Stella Mae Storms

May 21, 1928 — January 20, 2022

Stella Mae Storms, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Village at Mission in Prairie Village.  Until 3 years ago, her home was Roeland Park, KS for more than 50 years.  Stella was a member of the Roeland Park United Methodist Church for 65 years.  She enjoyed her work of several decades in the insurance industry, and once retired spent significant time volunteering.  She had a very empathetic and caring nature, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Stella was born May 21, 1928 to Ezra and Margaret (Schmidt) Hughes in Fulton, Missouri.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert “Bob” Storms; her parents, and 3 sisters:  Mary Francis Harris, Minnie Jane Rice, and Elizabeth Irene Turpin.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Pierce (Rod) of Olathe, KS and Judith Fredrickson (Dennis) of Valrico, FL, 4 grandchildren: Jeff Pierce, Laura Pierce, Kellie Fredrickson and Christina Fredrickson.  5 great-grandchildren:  Gyanna Pierce, Adrian Luckey, Carter Luckey, Anthony Luckey, and Aubrey Luckey.  She is also survived by one brother, Dr. James L. Hughes of Roanoke, VA

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

A private graveside service will be at a later date.
