Stephen F. Myers

Stephen Fredrick Myers Born March 20th, 1951, to Doris Pearl McKenzie and James Vernon Myers, of Kansas City MO.  Died April 27, 2023, in Drexel, MO.  Stephen was survived by Michael S. Myers of Olathe KS, James T Myers (Heather) of Raleigh NC, Stephanie Rector of Olathe KS.  Stephen had 3 grandsons, Tanner S Myers of Garner KS, Nathaniel J Myers of Raleigh NC, and Brock Kemp of Phoenix AZ, as well as three great grandchildren, Landyn, Declan and Raelyn Myers.  Steve is survived by his sister Diane (Myers) Payne.  Steve was predeceased by his parents, his brother Calvin Mahue, as well as the mother of his 3 children, Linda Spangler Myers.

Stephen graduated from Kansas City High School.  He joined the Army in 1969 and served for 10 years, stationed in various places including Bramerhaven Germany.  After the Army, Steve was in quality control and worked some very interesting jobs.  He worked for Kansas City Construction Steel, X-Raying bridges to make sure that they were sound.  Those bridges are all around Kansas City today.  He also worked for nuclear power plants.  While an adult Steve continued his education, completing his master’s degree.

Steve truly enjoyed life, and seemed to be good at almost everything that he had interest in.  He decided to take up painting, and the paintings are amazing.  He loved his motorcycles and took countless road trips with his friends, mainly his closest friend Jim.  Steve was a believer in Christ, recently becoming deeply devoted to his faith. Steve just recently began a social media group the Jesus Tribe.   He was actively involved in his church, where he was involved in helping to lead small groups. Steve spoke fluent Spanish, and helped people get their citizenship.  Steve loved music.  He played guitar, trumpet, piano and violin, as well as singing while he played.  It is hard to sum up everything that Steve loved, but at the center of it all was his love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  Steve loved being a grandpa and spent time with his great grandchildren.  Steve’s children say that He was good at everything that he put his hands to.  If he wanted to do something, he did it well.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Amos Family Funeral Home from 1:00-1:45 pm with a memorial service to immediately follow.  Burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
