Steven A. Borchardt, 72, passed away on September 12, 2021 at his home in Westwood, Kansas. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Glenn and Marguerite Borchardt. Steve graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1966 and attended the University of Kansas.
He was a veteran of the Army and was in the Vietnam War, serving there from October of 1968 through March of 1970. He was highly decorated upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army.
After retiring from a long career with the Union Pacific Railroad, he enjoyed restoring vintage cars and hanging out with friends at Fred’s Racing Enterprise. In his younger years, he built and showed Custom Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Glenn Jr. and Tom. Steve is survived by his son, Wolfgang; sister Theresa; sister-in-law Peggy and sister-in-law Marge; Belinda; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be especially missed by his dearly beloved dogs, Jake and Ginger.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shawnee, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will follow from 3-7 pm at the Westwood Town Hall, located at 4700 Rainbow Blvd., Westwood, KS 66205.
