Steven Joseph Nachbar, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Steve was born on August 6, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of Betty and Eugene Nachbar. He had two sisters and one brother, Jennifer Lillig (Bernie) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Diana Brown and Brian Nachbar. Steve married Mary Kornegay on June 1, 1994. They had 30 wonderful years together. He had three sons and one daughter, Brandon Nachbar (Marci), Tim Beauchamp (Lynae), Brian Kornegay (Beth) and Julie Lobdell (Dan). He had five grandsons and two granddaughters.
Steve proudly served in the Marine Corp for two years. Afterwards, he worked as a brakeman/conductor with Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad. He also worked as a DSR for Con-way Central Express. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode often with a group of friends. He rode with the Patriot Guard Riders for funeral services of fallen American heroes to show respect and to shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions. Each year, he and his wife took part in the Wreaths Across America ceremonies placing wreaths on the graves of those who served. He held a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus and was an active member.
He loved spending time in his music room playing his drums and listening to the old songs on vinyl records using his turntable. Some of his favorite groups were The Rolling Stones, Eagles, Beatles, INXS, Carole King to name a few. He had pictures of some of his favorite groups hanging on the wall there. He enjoyed playing with his Schnauzers, Sylvia, Toni and Angel. Although Schnauzers were his all-time favorite breed, he was recently thinking about getting an English Bulldog because their pugged faces were so cute.
