Steven Nail

Steven Francis Nail, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2021, at his home in Amarillo, Texas. Steve was born on March 14, 1955 to Vernon G. and Mary. E. (Smith) Nail in Kansas City, Kansas. Steve is survived by a sister, Kathy (George) Dobbelaere of Shawnee, KS and a sister, Rita (Jim) Hayes of Blue Springs, MO. He leaves nieces and nephew, Tanya (Rob) Burdiss of Shawnee, KS; Gabe (Annie) Dobbelaere of Shawnee, KS; Laura Hayes of Overland Park, KS and Katie Hayes of Kansas City, MO, as well as seven great-nieces and nephews. Steve was employed by The International Paper Company in Amarillo, Texas for 40 years until retirement in 2020. Steve was an avid washer pitcher. He played for over 40 years and won more than 80 championships. He was well-known and made many friends through washer pitching competitions from all across the great state of Texas. He pitched with many partners and always seemed to come out a champion. A private grave-side service will be held at a later date.
