Steven N. Thursby, 66, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Steven was born August 6, 1947 to Neil and Imogene (Coffman) Thursby in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Washington High School in 1965. Steven enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was discharged in 1972. On March 2, 1968 he married Nancy Fisette at Stony Point Christian Church. Shortly afterwards, Steven started his career as an Assembler with General Motors and UAW Local 31. He retired after 30 years of dedicated service on June 19, 1998. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Stony Point Christian Church and was proud to watch both his children get married in the same church he grew up in. Steven was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with his coworkers and friends, he was especially proud of bowling a perfect score of 300, with an 810 series.

Steven is preceded in death by his mother, Imogene; a son, Steven N. Thursby, II; and a brother in law, Bo Fisette. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, of 45 years; his father, Neil Thursby; a daughter Denise Garner and husband Richard; two grandchildren Derrik and Macy Garner; a sister Beverly Weaver and husband Darrell; two sisters in law Linda Fisette and Phyllis Fisette (Bo).

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with funeral services following at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory

The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to Heartland Hospice, 4601 College Blvd. #160, Leawood, KS 66211 or to University of Kansas Cancer Center, 2330 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Westwood, KS 66205.
