Sumathy Rajendiran, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, at the age of fifty-six, from a brain aneurysm.
Sumathy was born on August 4, 1968, in Tamil Nadu, India, to Karuna Prakasam and Mahalakshmi. She grew up in Chennai and attended Ethiraj Women’s College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. After graduating she went on to pursue a career in IT and Software Consulting.
She married her husband Rajendiran in 1992 and moved to the United States in 1993, where they started their family, having two children, Pranav, and Manasa.
Sumathy was a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and loved member of the community. She was known for her vibrant smile, infectious laughter and joy, and her undying love towards others. Sumathy was deeply enthusiastic about helping others and bringing happiness through volunteer work and community service, to all those who she has crossed paths with. She was an active member of the Art of Living, advocating for the beneficial impacts of meditation and breathing techniques. She was also a respected mentor and guru, teaching many devotees Lalitha Sahasranamam and guiding her loved ones to lead a life of joy and service.
In loving memory of Sumathy, who left an indelible mark on our community, we cherish her pivotal contributions as the primary volunteer coordinator in the World Culture Festival of 2022, mobilizing the community and volunteers to help make this event a success. With unwavering dedication and meticulous planning, Sumathy brought together diverse cultures, creating a vibrant celebration that united hundreds in the Kansas City area. Her passion for fostering understanding and connection among people will forever resonate in our hearts, reminding us of the beauty of community and the spirit of inclusivity she championed.
Sumathy Rajendiran is survived by Rajendiran Somasundaram, Pranav Rajendiran, Manasa Rajendiran, and their Husky, Leela Rajendiran.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 20, with visitation from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM at The Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory (10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203) in the West Chapel Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Midwest Transplant Network. Sumathy was able to donate the gift of life to five others through organ donation, and may her grace and positivity live through them.
