Susan Monica Hunt, 66, Overland Park, KS died November 27, 2018 at her home.
Ryan Kellerman:
Susan lived in Roeland Park for a majority of her life. Even after she moved to her dream house in north Overland Park, she still came back daily to spend time with her mother. After her mother passed away, Susan still visited the street she grew up on. It was a common sight to see her drive down the street dressed in her everyday attire of denim, drinking her McDonald's Diet Coke and having her beloved dogs beside her as she checked up on the old neighborhood. She was always willing to help out anyone with questions about the history of the city or neighborhood as she was very proud of her family's role in it. She loved to discuss the politics of the local city government over a Coors Light. She may have moved from the area, but she was always the Queen of Roeland Drive.
Philip and Kitty Hunt:
My sister, Susan Hunt, was a woman of both Strength and character. Her success in life was due mostly to the depth and scope of her intellect, her steadfast determination to finish whatever she started, and her passion for helping others. Susan took on and completed projects âmost people' wouldn't have attempted. But Susan wasn't most people. She just wouldn't give up.
She leaves behind a legal community of people who respected her judgement and her ability to make the right decisions and many friends who already miss her including my wife Kitty and me. God speed Susan, may you rest in peace.
Greg and Janet Jackson:
Susan Hunt was born in Akron, Ohio on May 18th, 1952. She attended Shawnee Mission North High School, graduated class of 1970. She then attended KU where she earned her Science Degree and began teaching Biology at Turner High School. Susan left teaching to work for the KC Mo Police Dept. as a Forensic Scientist. She wrote a book on blood splatters and collecting blood samples for the police officers. She became interested in law and returned to KU to get her law degree. She worked in several law firms before starting her own practice as a Criminal defense lawyer. Her other passion was German Shepard dogs. She also had a talent for painting. Susan was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend with a quick wit and hearty laugh.
Janie Bakerman:
Susan's accomplishments, love of German Shepherd dogs, and pride in her community showed in all she did. She treated people from all walks of life with respect. I called her "Cream Puff" because she had that gruff demeanor but was such a softy inside.
She loved to tell the story of how her mom got us out of bed in the middle of the night to chase fire trucks. She was so proud to introduce her friends when she could and the years of her friendship had endured. One amazing woman!
