Susan Cory Case “Suzy,” 74, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on March 3rd, 2022, after battling cancer and multiple other ailments. She was with her son at the time of her passing.
Suzy was a skilled draftsman. After graduating high school, Suzy pursued a career in Drafting. She held multiple permanent and contract jobs working with companies such as Schweitzer in Indiana, Fairbanks Morse in Kansas City, AT&T, TWA, Ford Motor Co., and KU Med Center. As a Draftsman, Suzy was incredibly adept in hand and digital drawings. Some of the projects she worked on ranged from designing specific integrated chips to electrostatic paint booths and large-scale manufacturing and assembly lines. One of her favorite jobs that she worked on was digitizing KU Med Center’s old architectural paper drawings. Her job was to verify these drawings by putting eyes on almost every section of the facility, then working with the Architectural Engineers to update and digitize all in CAD software.
Suzy attended Purdue University for Drafting and engineering.
Suzy served as a chaplain for the Eagles Club in Shawnee and loved her time hanging out with her fellow members. She also found herself involved in several other hobbies, including bowling, shooting pool and darts, and playing the piano for her church’s services. Our family will miss her greatly.
Suzy was predeceased by her parents Natalie Gorham Harris of Naples, Florida, and Harold Reed Cory of Ashville, North Carolina. She is survived by her son Mike Harris, daughter-in-law Alison Harris, and grandchildren Alana and Zane Harris.
The family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Susan Cory Case.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 8th, 2022 at 3pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas.
