Teresa “Terri” Gainey Lavin, 74, Overland Park, KS passed away, after a brief battle with cancer, Sunday, August 22, 2021 at home surrounded by family. A Rosary Recitation will be 9:30 am, followed by a visitation from 10-11:00 am and funeral mass at 11:00 am, Friday, August 27 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Prairie Village, KS. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made in the Honor of Sam Welch in the memory of Terri Lavin to the MS Society.
Terri was born October 6, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to John J. and Cecelia Gainey. On August 17, 1968 Terri married Mike Lavin in Kansas City, MO. She was a homemaker and then worked at Farmer’s Insurance until retirement in 2005. After re-tirement Terri and Mike moved to Warsaw, MO and were active members at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Warsaw. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and was a hospice volunteer for Benton Co. Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike on Jan. 26, 2020, her parents and two brothers, Tom Gainey and John Gainey, Jr. She is survived by her three daughters, Kala (Dean) Welch, Olathe, KS, Karla (Jimmy) Maisch, Overland Park, KS and Katy Britt, Liberty, MO; three sisters, Sister Margaret Ann Gainey, Celie Gainey and Marilyn (John) Werkowitch; ten grandchildren, Alex Welch(fiance’ Andy Blattner), Sam Welch, Abby Welch, Haley Maisch, Patrick Maisch, Thomas Maisch, Cece Maisch, Zachary Maisch, Skyler Britt, and Madison Rose Britt and many nieces and nephews.
