Teresa Milewska Konior Weiner passed away with family at her side on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Lenexa, KS. She was 92 years old.
Born Kijewo, Sroda, Poland in 1926, she and her family were deported by the Soviets to Siberia in 1940 to work in slave labor camps where they experienced hard labor, disease, hunger, and death. After their release in 1942, they were transported with the Polish army to Palestine. It was there that she attended and graduated the Polish School for Girls in Nazareth, Palestine.
In 1947, she emigrated with her family to England where she met her first husband, Edward Konior. With her husband, she moved to California and began working for Blue Chip Industries in 1952. She was widowed in 1975. In 1987, Teresa married Raymond Weiner and lived in Mission Viejo, CA. She moved to be closer to her family in Kansas in the summer of 2018.
Teresa was a consummate learner. She took classes in art, painting, sculpting, history, and photography. She was a long-time volunteer at the public library and enjoyed singing in her church choir. She was a gifted artist, excelling across multiple mediums. She left behind an unmatched collection of paintings and photographs that her family and friends will cherish. Teresa loved walking, traveling, playing card games, and spending time with her family. She was vivacious, spirited, intelligent, and kind - but above all, she was deeply loved.
Teresa was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward (d. 1975) and Raymond (d. 2004), her brother Stanislaw (d. 2011) and his wife, Anita (d. 2018). She is survived by her brother Andrzej (Ewa) Milewski, step-daughter Barbara (Michael) Smith, two grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews, and seven great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, NC and she will be interred in Manchester, CT.
