Thelma M. Kozak

October 29, 1925 — April 21, 2010

Thelma M. Kozak, 84, of Overland Park, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 21, 2010.

Thelma was born in Flat River, Missouri, on October 29, 1925. Much of her adult life, Thelma lived in Kansas City where she raised four children. Thelma worked her whole life as a nanny, helping others raise their kids. While working for several families, she was once nominated for and subsequently received the "Kindest Kansas Citian" award. Thelma loved spending time in the company of family and friends for whom she demonstrated her love by cooking holiday meals, baking banana bread/brownies, displaying countless photos in her home and spoiling kids with trips to "Children's Palace."

Thelma is survived by her brother James Fox; daughter-in-law, Frances Wisong; grandchildren Denise Bailey, David and Jaime Carlson, and Glenn Heath and Steve Heath; and great-grandchildren Alyssa and Alex Bailey, Megan and Evan Heath and Clayton and Wyatt Carlson.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Sinia Fox; her siblings Floyd Fox, Ilene VanLerberg and Evelyn Marie Vinson; husband Howard Kozak and four beloved children Pat Marietta, Syble, Evelyn and Jim Wisong, Jr.

Graveside Service

Graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, 18301 Salisbury Road, Independence, Missouri on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1:00pm.
