Ted Elrod passed away at Shawnee Mission Medical Center on January 10, 2011, at the age of 90.
Born in Springfield, Missouri, Ted was a member of the Christian Church, VFW Post of DeSoto, Kansas, a veteran of WWII, and a retiree of General Motors. During his lifetime, he lived in DeSoto, Shawnee, and Prairie Village, Kansas.
Ted is survived by his wife, Alberta, of the home; son Ted Elrod, Jr., Lone Jack, Missouri; and daughter Cheryl Gish of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren: Walter McDaniel, Antioch, Tennessee, David Elrod and Darin Elrod, Overland Park, Kansas and Heather Hargrove of Lenexa, Kansas; three great-grandchildren: Riley and Connor Hargrove of Lenexa, Kansas and Anna Elrod of Overland Park, Kansas; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Winfield and Mary; brothers Julian and Virgil; and sisters Mary Cliff, Agnes McCoy, Dorotha Shultz, and Imogene Lawson.
Visitation and Service
A visitation will be held from 7:00-7:30 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, followed by a memorial service and reading of the obituary at 7:30 pm. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2010, in DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto, Kansas.
