Thomas L. Campbell

October 4, 1943 — January 18, 2016

Tom Campbell,72, of Shawnee, KS, went home to be with Jesus on January 18th, 2016 at Brookdale Rosehill in Shawnee, KS.

He was born in Fredonia, Kansas on October 4th, 1943 to Delbert and Elda Campbell. Tom graduated from Ottawa High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ottawa University. Tom was married to Mary Ann Hewitt on August 10th, 1963 in Ottawa.

Tom was retired from Shawnee Mission School District, where he taught at Horizon (AEP) High School for 18 years and retired in June 2012. Music has always been a part of his life whether being a choir director, participating in musicals, bands and choirs, or giving music lessons. Tom's love for music and his family was always evident in his life.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Campbell and Elda (Campbell) O'Neil.

He was survived by his wife, Mary Ann Campbell of Shawnee, KS; his two daughters Christine (Curt) Wilbur of Lexington, MO and Kim (Mike) Brannan of Licking, MO; ten grandchildren Rachel (Chris) Slover, Jonathan Dodson, Micah Dodson, Jocelyn Brannan, Jazelle Brannan, Zachary Brannan, Jazmine Brannan, Mykalah Wilbur, Hayden Brannan, and Cohen Brannan; three great grandchildren Jude Slover, Kourtney Dodson and Merida Slover; two step-grandchildren Ashlyn Wandell and Kayla Williams; two brothers Duane Campbell of Conway, AR and Craig Campbell of Lakeland, FL; and a plethora of extended family.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Shawnee Mission Medical Center and the staff of Brookdale Rosehill for their support in his final days.

Services

Celebration of Life service will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016. Visitation will start at 2 pm and the service will start at 3 pm.
