Thomas E. Flynn passed away peacefully on April 18 at Sharon Lane Health Services in Shawnee, KS. He was born January 5, 1925 to William J Flynn and Margaret Miller Flynn in Kansas City, KS, where he lived his entire life. He was a shopman and yard rigger at Benson MFG, CO, K.C.MO starting in 1945 until he retired in 1968. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers union (Local # 520) during his entire working career. He married Emma P Vogrin on February 7, 1959 and together, they liked to take long car trips, especially to Florida. Tom was always interested in collecting both stamps and coins, turning his avocation for coins into a post retirement job at several coin shops in the greater Kansas City area. He also loved to play his harmonica, sing, tell jokes, golf, tend to his yard and garden - and watch KC Chiefs games with his sisters. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony -St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kansas City, KS since moving from St Thomas parish as a youth. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Vogrin Flynn; sisters Mary C Flynn and Ann Warren and husband Woodrow; brothers Paul Flynn and wife Elizabeth Grisnik Flynn, and Joseph N. Flynn and wife Barbara Wirth Flynn. Survivors include nephew Joseph M. Flynn and wife, Suz-Anne; niece Kathleen Samalon and Bill Samalon and great-nieces Kristine Wadley and daughter Grace and son Joseph Michael; Kourtney Honan and husband Rick and their daughter Suzanne and son Gavin; Keri Evans and husband Doug and their sons Cole, Wyatt and Owen and daughter Lydia.
Visitation will be Thurs., April 23rd from 9:30-10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS. A Funeral Mass will follow, starting at 10:30am. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in KC, KS.
