Thomas J. Tush passed away at the age of 60 on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission, where he received excellent care. He was born on October 1, 1960 to Thomas C. Tush and Martha Stevenson in Kansas City, Kansas.
Tom loved his family, spending time with kids, grandkids and holidays with extended family. Continuing the family tradition, Tom was an active gardener, who especially enjoyed growing broccoli, tomatoes, and peppers.
He was an avid sports fan. He loved watching his kids play, as well as, Kansas City teams. He played college football and baseball at MNU. Then he went on to play slow-pitch softball with his friends and family late into adulthood. He began collecting baseball cards at age 5, and continued to do so with his son and more recently with his grandsons.
Tom was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene. He had known the Lord his whole life but grew deeper in his faith in the last several years. He enjoyed working with kids at Camp Daniel and in AWANA at Walnut Grove Bible Church. Tom was a UPS driver, and worked out of the Lawrence center for over 30 years. He was joyful person who loved making others laugh.
Tom was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer at the end of April. Like he did with everything, he gave it all he had but was ready to go to his heavenly home.
Tom was proceeded in death by his father, Thomas C. and brother, Timothy Allen. He is survived by his 3 children: Megan (Alex) Gaede, Hannah Tush, and Timmy Tush; 3 grandchildren: Issac, Nathan, and Henry Gaede; his mother, Martha (Jim) Stevenson; sisters Marsha Hunt, Gina (Jeff) Sebree, Julie (Ryan) Hunt, and Jamie Stevenson; and several nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved by his family and will be missed by them and his many friends.
