Travis Wayne Merz passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of 44 in De Soto, Kansas. He was born August 3, 1979, in Topeka, Kansas to Alvin and Jan (Langston) Merz.

Travis dedicated his career to the field of computer information technology after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Devry University. Beyond work, Travis had a zest for life and found joy in exploring the world through travel, spending serene days by the lake, and embarking on adventurous hikes. He was an avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and a devoted fan of KU Basketball and Football. Above all, Travis cherished spending time with his family and friends. These lasting memories will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Travis is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Merz; grandparents, Melvin and Mary Langston, Floyd and Helen Merz, and Ray Miller; aunts, Ida Smith and Evelyn Gore; and uncles, Floyd Junior Merz, Charles Merz, Wayne Merz, and Ralph Gutierrez Jr.

Travis will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his mother, Jan Merz; step-mother, Jeanie Merz (John Taube) of Topeka, Kansas; grandmother, Joann Miller of Alma, Kansas; brothers Alvin Merz (Beth), Matthew Merz (Megan) of Olathe, Kansas, Michael Merz (Kelly) of Denver, Colorado; sister Suzanne Shepherd (Mark) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; nephews Ethan and Colton Merz, Benjamin Merz; niece Lucy Merz; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Travis will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Eagles Landing located at Lake Olathe, 475 S Wardcliff Dr., Olathe, KS 66061. This gathering will serve as a tribute to the life and memories shared with Travis, as loved ones come together to celebrate his spirit and the impact he had on all who knew him. May his memory be a source of comfort and peace to all who knew and loved him.
