Tuong Tong

Mr. Tuong Tong, 85 of Overland Park, Kansas, died peacefully Wednesday night, August 29, 2018 in the comfort of his home; surrounded by his loving family.

Tuong Van Tong was born October 11, 1933 in Cambodia. He later moved to Vietnam where he and his beautiful wife Vang Lam raised 6 kids in their town Rach Gia. He worked as a fisherman and was also known as the towns Medicine Man/Chiropractor. He never accepted money for his service to heal and has always asked they pay it forward. During the war, he served for the Republic of Vietnam Navy. In the final days of the war, he escaped Vietnam with his family to Guam and then to Philippines in the Spring of 1975. From there, they were transferred to Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, fall of 1975. Then finally settled in Overland Park, Kansas, where he worked as a custodian at Johnson County Community College. He continued to practice his healing of others and in his free time he would go fishing.

Surviving are wife, Vang Lam of Overland Park, Kansas; children, Lan (Ro) Nguyen of Overland Park, Kansas, Hue (Quyen) Nguyen of Olathe, Kansas, Qua (Phuc) Tong of Olathe, Kansas, Kimi Ha (Hugh) Tran of Overland Park, Kansas, Hung (Jenny) Tong of Shawnee, Kansas and Khanh (Thuy) Tong of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, David (Trisha) Nguyen, Lynda (Wayne) Munsayakham, Danny (Elishia) Nguyen, Kenton (Hong) Nguyen, Kathy Nguyen, Thomas Tong, Thompson Tong, Lya Tran, Dalena Tran, Johnny Tong, Kyle Tong, Kaden Tong, Anna Tong, Abby Tong; great grandchildren, Kayla Nguyen, Shaylin Nguyen, Brendon Nguyen, Elliana Nguyen, Tyler Munsayakham, Caleb Munsayakham, Shiloh Munsayakham, Lyla Nguyen, Emilia Nguyen, Bella Nguyen, Kaelyn Nguyen.

Prayer and visitation from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, August 31st at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS, 66203.  Visitation on Saturday, September 1st from 4:00 - 8:00 PM also at Amos Family Funeral Home.  Prayer and visitation following cremation from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM also at Amos Family Funeral Home.
