On Saturday, September 19, 2020, Ursula Elizabeth Orlich, loving mother of three children, passed away at the age of 92.
Ursula was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1948. She was a master cook specializing in German cuisine who honed her skills to perfection with lavish dinners on any and every family occasion. Reports are still coming in from grateful relatives and friends who have experienced the delight of one of her meals.
Ursula was a manager at Justrite Supermarket and contributed highly to the success of Werner’s Specialty Foods in Mission, Kansas. She was also active in various German-American clubs around Kansas City including Germania, GACA, and Edelweiss.
Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and watching vintage movies. She was also an avid sports fan of various teams and sports, including Chiefs, Royals and Tour de France.
Ursula is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Anni Mueller, her husband Joseph Orlich, her companion Werner Wohlert, her sister Trudel, brother Hans, half-brother Klaus and grandson John Crilly. She is survived by her sister Anita Ruck, nephew Chris Ruck, step-sister Elizabeth Murray, her daughter Rosemarie Crilly, sons Stephen and Anthony Orlich, grandsons Brian and Kevin Crilly, and great grandsons Morrison, George and Jack.
Visitation will be at 9 - 9:45am Friday at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee.
Due to COVID restrictions, the visitation and funeral service is restricted to 45 people in the chapel at one time. Due to this restriction the family encourages watching the service on Facebook Livestream via this link.
