V. Joyce Borel, 83, of Fairway, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2012, at Garden Terrace in Overland Park, Kansas.

Joyce was born April 14, 1929, in Orrick, Missouri, to Albert E. and Susie Clevenger. She was the third of 10 children. The family moved from the farm to Kansas City in 1941. She attended Manual High School and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. She retired from Jules Borel & Co. after 25 years last serving as their credit manager.

Joyce married Pierre (Pete) Borel May 14, 1949, at the Salvation Army on Broadway in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they had 5 children. Pete preceded her in death in 1978. In 1984, Joyce married Harold Lipp and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Joyce was a devoted wife, mother and grammie. She was a wonderful cook who especially enjoyed family gatherings at the home; her door was always open to family and friends. She was an active member of the First Raitter's Sunday School Class along with being a Stephen's Minister at Old Mission United Methodist Church in Fairway, Kansas. She had a deep faith that guided her through life.

Besides her parents and husbands, Joyce was preceded in death by her brothers, Norman Clevenger, Albert Clevenger Jr. and Ray Clevenger; sister, Joanne Clevenger and step-son Richard Lipp.

She is survived by her children: Roger and Marilyn Borel, Fairway, Kansas, Paul Borel, Overland Park, Kansas, Terry and April Borel, Jonesbourgh, Tennessee, Becky and Stuart Thomas, Fairway, Kansas and Timothy and Penny Borel, Leawood, Kansas; grandchildren: Aimee, Arwen and Jesse Thomas; Pete Borel; Tucker, Timothy and Jacques Borel; sister and brothers: Janice and Franz Winklhofer, Billie Lee Clevenger, Dolores Clevenger, Don and Mary Clevenger, Victor Dale Clevenger, Rex and Joyce Clevenger; step children: William and Fay Lipp, Carolyn and Neil Gorup, Linda Stokes and Nancy Lipp; and step-grandchildren: Thomas Lipp, Jesi Pershing and Mary Lipp.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, July 6, 2012, at Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be 10 am, Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Old Mission United Methodist Church, Shawnee Mission Parkway and Mission Road, Fairway, Kansas. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Old Mission United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
