V. Maurine Poole

November 29, 1921 — January 17, 2017

On Tuesday January 17, 2017 at the age of 95. Maurine passed her soul to Almighty God. She is survived by daughters Linda Goetz (husband Wayne) and Gwen Honeyman (husband Blair) and their beloved families including four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her devoted friend and companion Wanda Jones.

Born Violet Maurine Parker on November 29, 1921 in Sikes, Louisiana to Eula and Jessie, Mimi was raised with six brothers and one sister. After high school she married Lewis Poole thereafter becoming a military wife and mother. Over the years, the family was assigned to bases in Mississippi, Texas, Arizona, Japan and Germany.

Following the retirement of Lewis from the Air Force and his subsequent death, Maurine had to assume the new role of a single working mother. She was employed at Farmers Insurance and retired after 25 years achieving the position of department supervisor.

Throughout her retirement years Mimi's heart was often pierced by the deaths of all of her beloved brothers and sisters.

Through it all, she embarked on a variety of calming passions including quilting, crochet, canning, baking and sewing. Her pear preserves and mouth- watering southern-style buttermilk biscuits were among her culinary treats.

Mimi was always a person of great kindness and had a prevailing deep love for her entire family. She will forever be remembered as that "pretty lady." She was gifted with charm and softness, quiet composure and a gentle smile with a cute "muffled" giggle. Her love will be greatly missed but her legacy will live in our hearts forever.

There will be a visitation Sunday January 22nd, 2017 at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive; burial in the Antioch Pioneer Cemetery.
