Velma Bogina

Velma M. Bogina, age 80, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away September 2, 2009.

She was born in Arma, Kansas to Velma Cerne Rank and Roger Rank. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Pittsburg, Kansas. She also attended Pittsburg State Teachers College. Velma was a school teacher in Liberal, Kansas, at Union School #9 near Arma, and at Holy Trinity School in Lenexa, Kansas. Velma was active in Pilot Club International, the Daughters of Isabela, and the Women’s Republican Club of Lenexa. She was also a founding member of the Lenexa Historical Society.

She is survived by her children Kathleen Bogina, of Fair Lawn, New Jersey, August Bogina, III, Shawnee, Kansas, Michael Bogina, Olathe, Kansas and Mark Bogina, Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren Michael, Ashleigh, Caroline and Elizabeth; her sister Carmen Ginardi, Pittsburg, Kansas; and her brother Roger J. Rank, Arma, Kansas.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, and also Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 92nd Street and Park, Lenexa, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum.
