Vera Louise Coyle

Vera Louise Coyle, 85, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away at Covenant Place in Lenexa, Kansas, on Monday, February 3, 2014.

Vera was born January 26, 1929, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Irene Millard. Vera married the love of her life, Robert Evans Coyle at First Christian Church in Emporia, KS, on September 17, 1950. They met at Commander-Larabee Milling Company in Kansas City, Missouri.

Vera was an active member of Countryside Christian Church for over 50 years. Vera retired from Tilden Corporation in 1994. She was active in Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was a member of Business and Professional Women's (BPW) Foundation. Vera was active in the American Legion Post #370 in Overland Park for more than 30 years, and the Auxillary to secure college scholarships for Veterans' children and to provide Christmas gifts for Veterans. She was an active member of Milburn Country Club for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing golf with her friends at Milburn. She and Bob traveled extensively.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother, Leroy Millard of Independence, Missouri; son, Mike, married to Susan (Specht) of Shawnee, Kansas; one granddaughter, Mary, married to John King of Roeland Park, Kansas; one great grandson, Carter Michael King born one day after her 85th birthday on January 27, 2014; and several nephews and nieces.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Lakeview Village Rehab Center, Covenant Place and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. The Eastern Star Service will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at 11:30 a.m., Saturday at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
