Lynn Hollyman died January 21, 2015 at Bickford Mission Springs Assisted Living, after a long bout with Parkinson’s disease. She was born September 25, 1922, in Wasta, South Dakota and grew up in Everett, Washington. She graduated from Lake Stevens High School and attended secretarial school in San Francisco.
Lynn met her husband of sixty-eight years, Dr. John S. Hollyman, in Seattle, Washington. They were married in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1946 and moved to the Country Club Plaza before building their home in Countryside, Kansas.
Lynn was a supporter and member of the Symphony Women’s Association, the Lyric Opera Guild, the Conservatory of Music Women’s Committee, Dental Auxilliary, Paul Harris Fellow, and member of the Arch C. Klumph Society of Rotary International. Lynn and her husband were very involved with Rotary International and traveled worldwide attending meetings.
She was a longtime member of the Village Presbyterian Church where she was involved in various committees and groups. Lynn had a remarkable memory of the names of people she had met and factual information about each individual. She had a genuine caring and interest in others.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. John S. Hollyman of Mission, Kansas, son, Jay S. Hollyman of Fairway, Kansas, daughter Janie Menegay and husband Paul of Tyler, Texas, grandson David Chilcote and wife Ashley of Brownwood, Texas, great grandson, Charles Timothy Chilcote of Brownwood, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
No visitation is planned and a private family service will be held.
