Victoria “Vicki” Tennissen

Victoria “Vicki” Tennissen, 66, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

Vicki was born May 23, 1947, to Frank and Edith Rodriguez in Newton, Kansas. She grew up in Newton. Following graduation from Newton High School she entered the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, and became a registered nurse in 1968. She also attended Wichita State University. Nursing was truly her calling and passion. She took a break from full time nursing to stay at home and raise her daughters. However, she continued to practice as a volunteer nurse at her children’s grade, middle and high schools. While her health prevented her from returning to full time employment she worked part time at the University of Kansas and, most recently at Johnson County Mental Health.

Vicki was a member of Johnson County Young Matron and a former co-chair of their Holiday Homes Tour. She was also a former volunteer for American Heart Association. She loved to travel, loved wine and dancing and truly enjoyed life.

She is survived by her: husband Ron of the home; daughter Kimberly Tennissen; Prairie Village; daughter Carrie Tennissen, Prairie Village; daughter Christine (Wade) Korth; three grandsons, Jackson, Dawson, and Tenison Korth; mother, Edith Rodriguez, Newton, Kansas; brother Orlando (Charlene) Rodriguez Newton, Kansas; and sister Sonya (Mike) Bressie, Derby, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa, Kansas. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
