Virgil L. Triplett

November 1, 1933 — October 24, 2016

Virgil was born November 1, 1933 to Leroy and Ruby (Kile) Triplett in Burrton, KS. He moved to Kansas City when he was in the third grade, and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1954. He loved and was married to his sweetheart, Gloria Bigelow, for 61 years. Virgil served our country in the U.S. Navy stationed on board the USS Jupiter whose home port was Japan. After returning home, he worked the next 30 years for International Harvester/JI Case Company. He belonged to First Southern Baptist Church for over 45 years serving the Lord in a variety of ways. He helped others by working with youth, visiting the sick, and participating in the prison ministry. Virgil loved sports and was a coach to his own boys and many others in the Johnson County 3 & 2 Baseball Association. His love for children was also shown in the 17 years he helped children as a school crossing guard. Another of his great passions was that of carpentry. He mastered the art of woodworking, making furniture, keepsakes, and crafts. If anyone requested something custom made, he could always figure out a way to make it. Virgil leaves behind his wife Gloria, 4 children, Deborah (John) Davis, Michael (Diana), Paul (Tammy), Brad (Patti), brother Kenneth (Ginger), sister Nancy (Thomas) Mitchell, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to thank their hospice team so very much for all their loving care.
