Virginia D. Carmitcheal

October 21, 1924 — November 27, 2009

Virginia D. Carmitcheal, 85, Mission, Kansas passed away at home Friday, November 27, 2009 after a brief illness. She went to the Lord surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born in Blaine, Kansas on October 21st, 1924, the eighth of nine children to William and Mary (Cummings) Harrington. She retired in 1989 from Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, where she worked for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Francis and William Harrington, and four sisters, Catherine Kennedy, Mary Harrington, Margaret Gaughan and Agnes Farrell. Survivors include her son, Jack Carmitcheal; three daugthers, Connie (David) Allen, Susan (Kevin) Kohlmeyer and Judy (John) Novak; two sisters, Veronica Bensley and Edna Glick; eight grandchildren, Lindsay, Abby, Brian, Kelli, Michelle, Craig, Kate, and Michael; one great grandchild due in April; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either, Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall, Kansas City, Missouri 64145 or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation and Memorial Mass

Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a rosary recitation will be at 7:00 p.m.
