Virginia K. McCort, 94, of Overland Park, KS, peacefully passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born November 24, 1922, to the late Karl Richard and Planeau Idelle Kramer in St. Joseph, MO. She graduated from Central High School and attended St. Joseph Junior College and Kansas City University. On October 23, 1949, Virginia married Robert William McCort at the First Baptist Church in St. Joseph, MO. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2012. Virginia served as a volunteer for the USO during World War II. She was an active member of West Garden Club; K-State Extension-Johnson County; a lifetime member of the YWCA; a Cub Scout Den Mother and a volunteer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and Johnson County Election Board.

She was a hardworking, dedicated mother of four children, William R. McCort and wife Ann; Russell R. McCort and wife Sharon; Mary V. Schneider and husband Jim; Laura M. Randol and husband Tim; nine grandchildren; Maren E. McCort Marler and husband Matthew; Ashley E. McCort; Marc C. McCort; Sarah A. Saxton and husband William H. Saxton, IV; Rachel R. McCort; Hannah M. McCort; Stephanie V. Koepke and husband Jameson; James W. Schneider, Jr.; Emily E. Randol; and great grandson William H. Saxton, V.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be at 9:30 am Saturday, February 11, at Amos Family Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of Virginia's life at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
