Virginia Pflumm Cole Thayer

Virginia (Jenny) Lee Pflumm Cole Thayer, 77, of Merriam, Kansas, passed away July 14, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Jenny was born March 23, 1935, in Merriam, Kansas, to Paul N., Sr. and Lenore (Heinrich) Pflumm. Jenny had the most beautiful singing voice, loved being around children, and liked doing needle work. She worked in food services at Myron Green, Montgomery Ward, and Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home. In the home she watched and cared for several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jenny was united in marriage to her first husband, Edward E. Cole, Sr. From this union five children were born: Edward Cole, Jr., Vicky L. Burch, Cheryl A. Frederick, Fred P. Cole, and Tim J. Cole. From her second marriage, to David C. Thayer, Sr. two children were born: David C. Thayer, Jr. and Bill J. Thayer. She is survived by her children; grandchildren, Chris and Jason Burch, Terry and Tony Bond, and William, Maggie, and Mackenzie Thayer. She is also survived by multiple great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

God has chosen the most special angel to join him in heaven and we will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas. Burial will follow in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
