Voncille U. Helms Miller

Voncille U. Helms Miller, 98, Shawnee, KS passed away Jan. 5, 2015 at the Hillside Village of DeSoto.

Voncille was born May 13, 1916 in Tripplett, MO to Henry B. and Velma O. (Fuller) Helms. She was an accountant for Thompson Hayward Chemical Co., starting 1956 and retiring in 1981. Voncille greatly enjoyed genealogy, tracing different lines of her family back several generations. She also enjoyed sewing, drawing or painting and dancing. She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee.

Voncille was preceded in death by her brother, Delbert Woodrow Helms and daughter, Marilyn K. Helms Huss. Survivors include her two grandsons, Samuel B. Huss, Birmingham, AL and Matthew T. Huss, Lawrence, KS; their father, Bernard Huss, Lawrence, KS and her nephew, Darryl Lee Helms, Chicago, IL.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 9-10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.
