Walter Robert Seibert passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022, at the age of 91. Walt was a long-time survivor of pulmonary fibrosis and colon cancer.
Walt was born August 10, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA and earned his teaching degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) after serving in the Army during the Korean War. He met his wife of 64 years, Muriel (deceased 2020) while at IUP. Walt’s employment varied from teaching high school history to selling toys to selling books and finally a long career with the federal government in the Social Security Administration and Medicare.
Walt retired at the age of 62 and began enjoying a fun life of traveling around the world. He also continued with his dedicated involvement with Boy Scouts of America (BSA) helping with his son’s troops, Camp Bartle and Mic-O-Say until he disagreed with the BSA’s policy on homosexuality. He also continued volunteering around town ushering at JCCC, the Symphony, Folly Theatre and Quality Hill Playhouse, United Way, Shepherd’s Center and Colonial Church in Prairie Village. Walt was always happy to step up and volunteered on many other boards.
Walt’s family includes his children; Sheri Womack and husband Wally; Craig Seibert and wife Stacy; Stacy Seibert and wife Juliet Arndt; and Camden Seibert; three granddaughters and two great granddaughters.
Cremation was performed by Amos Family Funeral Home with his ashes being interred in the rose garden at Colonial Church of Prairie Village, 7039 Mission Road, PVKS 66208 on a date to be determined.
