Walter S. Stites

October 9, 1953 — January 12, 2021

Walter Stites, 67, of Shawnee, KS, passed peacefully at home with his loving family around him after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Garnett, KS to Walter and Mabel (Troutman) Stites on October 9, 1953. He's preceded in death by his parents; sister Faye and brother Ray. Walt was a kind and loving family man, the best friend to everyone. He worked for various companies as a land surveyor. He loved golf, water skiing and playing cribbage with his brother. He was an active member in Knights of Columbus in Shawnee. Walt is survived by Brenda, his wife of 38 years; son Josh (Shana) Stites; daughter Megan (Ryan) MacFarlane; his grandson Connor MacFarlane; sister Carole Prentice and many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr. Shawnee, KS 66203. To watch a livestream of the Mass click here.
