Walter S. White

March 3, 1926 — December 3, 2016

Walter S. White, 90, Shawnee, KS passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Walter was born March 3, 1926 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Walter S. and Buleh White. He spent his childhood in various small towns in Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota, before enlisting in the Navy at age 17 in 1943. He honorably served his country during WWII aboard the submarine USS Ronquil. Shortly after his discharge, he began a long career with the Vendorlator/Vendo Co., serving in his later years as VP of Parts and Customer Service. He then opened his own successful business, Diversified Management Services, and most recently worked in administration for Ifft & Co, PA. Along the way, he earned his business degree from UMKC, and in his spare time, enjoyed playing golf and following the Chiefs, Royals, and local college sports.

Although he never cared to bring attention to himself, people often went out of their way to tell family members what a good person and/or important person he was to their lives. He was loved and will be missed by his two daughters, Pamela Conrad (Rick) of Columbia, TN and Barbara Fitts (Greg) of West Des Moines, IA; son, Mark White (Sheryl) of Shawnee, KS; brother Ray White of Pasco, WA; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Austin and Tom.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS, followed by burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
