d. July 30, 2015

Warren W. Hallock passed away July 30, 2015 after a brief hospitalization.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae, and his siblings, Eva and Arthur. He is survived by sons Duane (Carol) and Gary (Tammi). He is also survived by daughter-in-law Cindy; five grandchildren - Bryan (Annette), Cristy, Luke (Shasta), Greg (Tara) and Jennifer Rebarchek (Nathan) and four great grandchildren - Elle, Aaliyah, Kayla and Mia. Warren was pleased to learn that a fifth great grandchild is expected in February.

Warren was born on Christmas Day in 1928 on a farm near Traer, Kansas. His childhood was spent in Western Kansas on his parents' wheat and dairy farms.

At Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska he met and married Clara Mae Campbell. Within days of getting married, he was drafted into service in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he graduated from college with a degree in education. With that training, he spent nearly 40 years as a school teacher within the Adventist Education System. His career track took him to schools in Texas, Iowa, Colorado and Missouri.

Upon retirement, he moved to Miami, Oklahoma and lived there until his wife of nearly 60 years died unexpectedly. He then moved to the Kansas City area (Overland Park and Shawnee) to be near his sons and their families.

Warren's final months were spent at Brookdale Shawnee, a memory-care facility where he was very comfortable and happy with the care he received. The family expresses their gratitude to the caring staff at Brookdale, and also to the compassionate and supportive team at Shawnee Mission Health, the hospital where Warren died.

Warren was a member of the Chapel Oaks Seventh-day Adventist church in Shawnee. He was known as a man of strong faith, and he served as a great role model of what a Christian husband, father, grandfather and friend should be. He will be sorely missed by his family and those who knew him. He's gone, but his legacy lives on.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 6 at the Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Fri., Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa.
