Warren C. Neal, 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Mission, Kansas, passed away March 7, 2012.
Warrenwas born January 14, 1924, in Severance, Kansas, to William B. and Myrtle E. (Hegenderfer) Neal. He was one of 11 children.
Warren graduated from Severance High School in 1941 and attended Highland Junior College until 1942. He then graduated from the Universityof Kansas with his A.B. Degree in 1947 and from the Universityof Kansas, School of Law in 1949. He worked as an attorney in the Kansas Cityarea for over 40 years. He served two terms on the Mission, Kansas City Council from 1973-77 and several terms as a Precinct Committeeman for his party. Mr. Neal served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as a B-17 Navigator with the 410th Squadron, completing 35 combat missions over Germany and France. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and five Air Medals.
Warrenwas united in marriage to his wife of nearly 60 years Alma Frances Chapple in 1945. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, by brothers Harold and Wayne, Bill, Jim, and by a sister Helen Grosfield.
He is survived by two children, David Neal of Shawnee, Kansas, and Janet Archer and her husband Dr. Rex Archer of Kansas City,Missouri. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Dr. Eric Archer and his wife Sarah, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rebecca Archer of Kirkwood, Washington; by his brothers George Neal of Aledo, Texas, Willis Neal of Castle Rock, Colorado; and by his sisters, Doris White of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Frances Muller of Cleveland, Missouri.
Warrenwas never known to be bored, he enjoyed word puzzles, history and economics, loved his lawn and garden work, playing the clarinet and following sports, especially baseball. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery,Troy, Kansas.
